Now whether you want to be or not, no doubt you're familiar with the TV reality series Survivor, which approximately 17 times a year places a group of people in a remote and difficult location, where they are expected to more or less fend for themselves like castaways. To add to the drama, they are put in teams that compete in contests for immunities, supplies, and privileges. At the end of a week of events, the losers must eliminate one of their own, until eventually there is one left standing, who is the ultimate Survivor.
Always having been one fond of bastardizing other people's good ideas for the amusement of all, it was only a matter of time before I made a mockery of this, the father of reality television. The only question was, "How?". Well, I'm happy to say that that old familiar spark of inspiration hit once again, and my latest folly was born. I submit for your consideration, the good people of this forum:
Monkey Account Survivor, suckahz!
The premise is simple. The 12 forumers who are selected to enter the competition will all make monkey accounts (for those of you not in the know of forum jargon, a monkey account is a second account made secretly by a regular member, so as to act anonymously). Then they will be divided into teams and will participate in weekly challenges, in which immunities, alliances, and ultimately eliminations will result. Every week one of these monkey survivors will be voted out of the competition, and upon the elimination being finalized, their accounts will be deleted entirely from this forum. When there is only one monkey account standing, they will be declared Monkey Survivor, and their account will forever remain intact for the winning forumer to use or not use as they see fit. And just to make things interesting, I'll throw in $10 or a FTP skin to the winner, custom-made to their specifications.
Of these words, MASS was born.
MASS, for those of you who do not know of it, was a reality show-style forum competition that ran here last year; a four month long battle of wits and deception amongst a dozen forum members. The season started feisty and grew more and more tumultuous as the weeks passed and the competition thinned. In the end, MASS was won by Pumpkin Pie, who surprised the cerebral You're Euchred in the Survival Challenge, and then in the Final Challenges defeated the player who had won all 3 of the Captain's Challenges during the season, Sir Viver.
But that is all ancient history, and all that remain are the heroic tales of the battles. All but the final two were by design wiped from existence in these battles, and make but rare departures from their well-earned retirement.
However, the citizens of the Fourum have not lost their taste for forum warfare; and while those heroes of old may no longer tread the paths of Fourumdom; there are fledgling heroes yet to be discovered among our ranks. And it is my duty to once more fill the forum with the cries of monkey account battle, and give the citizens of sixandfourum 6 more months of blood sport. So I am pleased to announce to you, citizens of the Fourum:
Another Monkey Account Survivor, Suckaz!As of now, I am accepting volunteers to play AMASS this year. The format will be similar to last year's with players playing team, individual, and immunity challenges and voting out one player a week. However, there are a few new wrinkles for this year:
1. We will not be starting with 12 monkey accounts. Instead, AMASS will begin with 25 accounts. In addition, each fourumer who plays AMASS will be allowed to have up to 3 accounts to start.
2. The field will be pared down to 16 players in the first week, after which the regular MASS format will be followed with one elimination a week.
3. In addition to AMASS, there will be a separate competition run at the same time as AMASS, for the same 25 contestants. This will be a tournament known as the AMASS Cup. Essentially, identifying your competition before they identify you will advance you through the stages of the AMASS Cup. There will be some twists and turns on the path to glory, however.
The winner of the AMASS Cup will also win the prize of $10 or an FTP skin, and their monkey account will also survive for posterity.
4. When a player is eliminated from AMASS, but is still in the AMASS Cup, their account will be allowed to survive until they have been eliminated from the AMASS Cup as well.
5. In addition to the two winners' prizes, there will be small cash prizes for the final 3 non-winning accounts left in existence in AMASS:
-the fifth-last eliminated account will win a buck;
-the fourth-last eliminated account will win 2 bucks;
-the third-last eliminated account will win 5 bucks.

For those unfamiliar with the original MASS, I will be chronicling the history of MASS week by week in a thread called "The History of MASS". If you want to know what you'd be facing in AMASS, or you're an old MASSer who'd like to reminisce, or even if you like a great epic tale, it will be found in this thread:
http://www.sixandfourum.com/index.php/topic,1629.0.htmlI invite, nay, challenge you, all able and worthy fourumers, to take your place in Fourum History.
