The rules:

  • Cost/Prize Pool - This one costs you nothing to enter. Sixandfourum has donated $10 as a prize money split into 55($5.50)/30($3.00)/15($1.50)
  • Games/Points - It will cost you nothing to play as we'll only count points from the Play Chip tournies on PokerStars. Competitors will be split into two teams, and points will be earned by the team members "cashing" in the 3 PokerStars tournies, Bananarama, Elektra and TT - the New Nuts. There will be 5 weeks of games played on Jan 1st & 2nd, 8th & 9th, 15th & 16th, 22nd & 23rd and 29th & 30th. Points will be the earned according to the formula [Prize Won/(Buy in - rake)] (So if you play a 100+9 tourny and come first to win 500 you have earned 5 points.)
  • Team Wins/Individual Points - We will keep track of team points each week to decide a winning team, and individual points will be tracked for the whole month. At the end of the month each player will have a score that counts the number of times they were on the winning team and their total points earned. (e.g. 4/5 - 45.7 meaning they were on the winning team 4 out of 5 weeks and the earned 45.7 points.) The person with the most team victories takes first place with individual points used as a tie so the final leader board might look like this:
    • 1st ~ 4/5 - 35.7
    • 2nd ~ 4/5 - 29.4
    • 3rd ~ 3/5 41.8
  • Team Redraws - Teams will be drawn randomly for the first week, and redrawn for weeks 2, 3, 4 & 5 according to the individual points table - Team 6 will be 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th & 9th and Team 4 will be 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th & 11th (etc as needed)
  • Team Sit Outs - One person from each team will be chosen before each game to "sit out". They players "sitting out" can still play and earn individual points, but their points will not count towards the team total. Each team member votes for the sit outs before the games start. A PM before Bananrama listing your choices for the weeks games is all that is required. You cannot sit out the same person more than once in any week.

I'm down.

and

So kids, after a couple of individual competitions, we thought another team thing might be fun. (Shut up! It will be. You'll play and you'll love it. (Damn I'm in a odd mood this morning. I'll come back and edit this later after I've sobered up.))

I'd pay to see a drunk Fletch.

Don't we need a rebuy contingency, though, so that it doesn't end up kebashing the points scale?

Yeah we just need to account for it in the points. So if you rebuy and add on you played for a buy in of 300 and you'd only win 1/3 of the points. That was my mistake in the OTT. And thanks for bringing up such a painful memory.

I'm confused a little bit

if its a team thing, you mention individual points if it don't count for the team ?

does someone pick the teams ?

you said 1 person is voted to sit out but then you mentioned you must vote out 2 players ? FOR GOOD ?

How many players on a team, who decides whos on whos team ?

  but I am in anyways

I'm confused a little bit

Yeah I was drunk when I wrote the rules.

if its a team thing, you mention individual points if it don't count for the team ?

Yes, teams change up every week and the points you earn in any week go towards the points for the team (unless you've been chosen to sit out for that game) BUT the points you earn keep accumulating for the whole month for your individual score.

does someone pick the teams ?

No. The first week they'll be chosen randomly, then after that they'll be chosen according to the individual points score of all the players.

you said 1 person is voted to sit out but then you mentioned you must vote out 2 players ? FOR GOOD ?

No-one is voted out for good. You are just voting for who sits out for the particular games that week. If the teams are even in numbers then they both pick one member to sit out. If one team has more players, then that team votes for 2 players to sit out, so that both teams have the same number of players earning points for them.

How many players on a team, who decides whos on whos team ?

There are half the number of players on each team, + or - 1 (if there's an odd number of people in the competition).

but I am in anyways

Yes you are.

instead of all that.... could take the simple automated route and use the "home games points"  1 point per entrant and not affected by buy-in amount, or re-buys ect, and will record each players points throughout

couple pics below, one is reg 100+9 freezeout, other was one of the re-buys...

Yeah, we did think about that, but the breakdown is too shallow. 43.6% for first, 31% for 2nd & 25.3% for 3rd is too shallow. First is not even twice 3rd, so the 50/30/20 is better, and allowing for rebuys (assuming ribby schedules one) could make it really interesting.

      You playing, sir?

so we could do the same (total points available is tied to number of entrants in tourney) but just make it 50/30/20 or whatever (hopefully it doesn't happen but, only pay 2 places if theres 8 or less in the tourny, 1 place for 5 or less)

      You playing, sir?

      seriously ?

Well you could be going on holidays, or something. If I make an assumption, it makes an ass out of u and and 'mption.

So, was going to reply to your last post, but see you edited that mo fo. I think it's better during a rebuy that if a person has to spend less than others to make the money, they earn more points. Exactly like winnings for a rebuy tourny.

And as an example, BNS won the last rebuy game, which had 13 players, for 2600 chips. Now if he bought in, had 1 rebuy and an addon he would earn 8.67 points. If he had another rebuy he would earn 6.5 points. If he had 3 rebuys he would earn 5.2 points.

If we just paid out a flat 50/30/20 he would earn 6.5 points no matter how many rebuys he had. I prefer the sliding scale, but comments from everyone are welcome.

      - At least one person from each team will be chosen before each game to "sit out". They players "sitting out" can still play and earn individual points, but their points will not count towards the team total.

what about if team votes to sit player x, then player y never shows,

or shows but must leave for an emergency ect (obv. this would need to be actual emergency and on players honor, not abused to take advantage)

can the player that was voted to be "sitting" but is actually playing (for the individual pts) stand in and have his pts count for the team

one other note: if we only have 9 total, would be a good idea to schedule these without late registration (if that's possible) so that we're not spread across 2 tables with 4/5 players and 2 or 3 sitting out as often happens in the early going

It still has the potential to overweigh rebuys as is.  If someone wins without rebuying or adding on, that game alone could be worth 5, 6, or more wins.  In effect, you could have the same situation we had last time; there's just a reduced chance of it.

at least they'd have to earn em somewhat this way

and the way I'm reading it, ....the indv. points aren't quite as critical here since winners over all are based on most times being on the winning team, with individual pts only counting for tiebreaker (not really sure how this will play out though, could be a 6 way tie at finish and indv. pts will mean everything  ? )

No, not really.  This is a series of games, not one.  I guess if you don't mind that particular game effectively rendering the rest of the games useless, fine, but it defeats the purpose of playing a mini season overly rewarding someone for one good day.  Jamie Gold won the Main Event; does that make him the Player of the Year?

He didn't win Player of the Year.

It wouldn't just be one good day, it would be one exceptional game. The odds would be drastically against anyone not rebuying or adding on and taking down a tourny against 12 other players starting with bigger stacks. It's hard enough to win a tourny or 13 without starting off with the short stack.

So if someone asks you why you're not at work, you don't say, "I'm on holidays."?

nope, might say "it's a holiday" if it is one.... or one could be on or go on a holiday vacation

here a holiday is a specific day of significance (christmas, thanksgiving, easter ect)

all holidays* are a vacation, but not all vacations are holidays (*unless you have a job where you have to work on that holiday, then it's still a holiday, but not vacation)

And you can "go on vacation" even when you stay at home?

absolutely.... vacation from work, or anything thing(s) or situation(s)....don't have to travel to make so, you've still removed yourself from, ie; vacated work ....and are in a state of vacation

Also, you haven't said ... you playing?

I'll let ya know after the holidays
