Obama vs. Bush: Obama wins! (for # of drone strikes)

2  The Milk Bar / All that Intellectual Stuff / Re: U.S. Kills 4 Americans In Drone Strikes on: Yesterday at 10:50:17 AM
source?
linky?

Cmon, this is the usual from Gabe -- not likely to start NOW!

N. Korea & Iran say they want to kill the USA off and wipe out Isreal = just a leader with a Attitude[/b]

btw "wipe Israel off the map" can mean either "want to BLOW THEM THE *!@$ UP" or "do not recognize their legitimacy* as a nation and thus want them removed from maps"... eye-opener if you actually look INTO some of these infamous quotes of world leaders over the last decade or so, it seems once an inflammatory "sound-bite" goes viral then it gets accepted as true whether or not its accurate, even by the "mainstream" media (supposedly the "fourth estate" fer cryin' out loud CHECK YOUR SOURCES! Even WIKIPEDIA ARTICLES require that!)

*easy-to-find examples: this, or this ; CLIFFS: the leader of Iran, in 2005, was QUOTING words spoken by the late Ayatollah Khomeini, DECADES EARLIER, and not only was that fact COMPLETELY OMITTED by western media, the MEANING was vastly different than what Faux News or Communist News Network would have you believe -- it was about the people in charge, not the land itself -- "Khomeini said this regime occupying Jerusalem must from page of time vanish from".

Why is it that they keep having to invent quotations? ... What is really going on here is an old trick of the warmongers. Which is that you equate hurtful statements of your enemy with an actual military threat, and make a weak and vulnerable enemy look like a strong, menacing foe. Then no one can complain when you pounce on the enemy and reduce his country to flames and rubble. It is obvious that powerful political forces in Washington are fishing for a pretext to launch a war on Iran, and that they are just delighted to have Ahmadinejad as cartoon villain and pretext.

The highest-profile of the "3D Printer" gun blueprints guys, Cody Wilson, aka Defense Distributed aka http://www.youtube.com/user/DXLiberty had a rough week starting around May 9th, 2013 ... feds told him  to take the INFORMATION off the Information SuperHighway (even though he ain't building/selling anything tangible except IDEAS!)

HOWEVER, this is temporary retreat ... certainly NOT surrender:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=DEFCAD <-- plenty of people have taken up their torches to fight The Man on this liberty issue (which has nothing to do with GUNS, if you think just a little bit deeper than the surface)

They really oughta show this vid around schools, restaurants, etc.  Also, IHCK is a fabulous acronym.

Notice in the description the URL is http://ihck.ca/ -- which redirects to http://www.health.alberta.ca/health-info/ihck/ ; it's a current promo from our provincial government. I like how it's info-sharing and not rule-imposing.
8  The Milk Bar / All that Intellectual Stuff / Why won't Bitcoin die? on: May 22, 2013, 09:17:44 AM
Q: What's a Bitcon?
A: Bitcoin is is the "common name" given to an agreed upon value stored in as decentralized, peer to peer, public ledger book called the "blockchain." "bitcoin" allows you to send value to any individual, anywhere in the world any amount of funds instantly. Pretty awesome. Warning: it is still EXPERMENTAL. (but it works!)

"Because it's math. You can't kill math."

"It only dies if you turn off the internet."

"Bitcoin is two things. It's a community, and it's a technology. The only way for Bitcoin to die is for people to lose interest in using it. No matter what the attacks are, there's always going to be a way around them. Because Bitcoin is just today's embodiment of the idea that we now have the technology to democratize money. So long as there is a demand for that, the only way I see Bitcoin dying is for it to be a predecessor to something else that does a better job."

tbh the MAIN reason I'm even considering this kind of thing, instead of just accepting "meh, I'm not in the US, their content license doesn't cover me, fine...", is the ability to view so much of the episodic stuff on the Official Sites which is ANCIENT aka YEARS old. Countless times I've found a well-reasoned, interesting, or entertaining political/oped article on some site (often a Big Name News Site!) that embeds a video clip, but I can't watch the damn thing to "get" what the article is responding to / commenting on!

So now I can. #yay

Has anyone used these thingies? How do they work, exactly, since they're just browser extensions?

I'm doing a test right now, as an example the most recent SNL: http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/may-11-kristen-wiig/n36760/

EDIT: MediaHint = quick+easy Chrome install, and it WORKED; before playing the video there apparently was supposed to be a 60 second commercial displayed, but since I'm in Canada it was just a black screen with text saying it couldn't show the ad -- once the 60 second countdown finished it started playing the video... including allowing me to jump ahead (but if I jumped past a marker showing commercial breaks then I had to wait for the countdown again, oh well, at least it's like an automatic "mute" button Smiley ) see you @ lunchtime,  http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes/ !

Damn, a week or so ago I had a big thread about recent movie I've watched, complete with pics and ratings and so on, but I kept getting an error when I went to post it.

u most likely experienced the same "maximum # of URL tags" limit that I did, and others claim doesn't exist... next time just break your post into 2 separate posts and you'll be fine (as long as it doesn't contains either of the banned words (poker, casino) Wink )

there is blood everywhere, they were running so its not going to pile up, look at the wheelchair, its filled with blood

there is "blood everywhere" once he is in the wheelchair.

But there was NO BLOOD gushing out of his "legs" in those still frames above ITT... that's what I was meaning by "where's the blood?"

To clarify, BEFORE getting a tourniquet, before getting in the wheelchair, AFTER the explosion -- look. When you take even a casual look at the initial still frames I posted (and the analysis I linked to) you'll realize that blood could not possibly have come from the severing of his legs, even if just below the knee -- or else that black lady right next to him would be soaked (and he woulda been passed out virtually instantly)... the heart pumps blood out pretty violently when limbs are severed, there isn't a delay of almost a minute...

fyi: IMDB is notorious for "protecting" its media from external linking; idk what movies you watched  Undecided

1 Freeloaders
2 Struck By Lightning
3 This Is 40
4 Broken City
5 Promised Land

 Undecided

PS: if you manually go to the URLs first, then it seems to be cached by the browser or something, it's like IMDB "allows" the images to show up in a forum thread for me now that I did that.

Find him in the photos below, via his distinct-colored long-sleeved sweatshirt -- he's on the left side of the photos, with his back to the camera...

"Frame 11" -- WHERE IS THE BLOOD?? (why isn't the black lady covered in blood?)

ps: "Frame 6" -- AFTER the bomb explosion which allegedly shred both of this man's legs -- and notice anything about his legs?

okay my bad I guess if they have surveillance video of Bomber #2 dropping the same bag at the exact location of Blast #2, then it's a clincher. Ditto for Bomber #1 being identified visually by Legless (via his brother) as dropping his bag at Blast Site #1 (and making eye contact with the victim).

http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2013/04/18/authorities-have-clear-video-images-two-suspects/YejgNWAcmChcx2lUXigs5I/story.html
Quote
The FBI today released photos and video of two suspects in the deadly Boston Marathon terror bombings case, appealing to the public to help law enforcement officials find them.

"Somebody out there knows these individuals," said Richard DesLauriers, special agent in charge of the Boston FBI office. He said the two men are considered "armed and dangerous."

DesLauriers described the two men as Suspect No. 1 and Suspect No. 2. Suspect No. 1 was wearing a dark hat. Suspect No. 2 was wearing a white hat.

DesLauriers said Suspect No. 2 was observed planting a bomb, leaving it in place shortly before it went off.

But I gotta say, imo, it's WEIRD that, with all these photos -- http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2013/04/18/authorities-have-clear-video-images-two-suspects/YejgNWAcmChcx2lUXigs5I/picture.html -- there has been NO photo released of "Suspect No. 2" actually BEING "observed planting a bomb".  Huh?

HuffPo has a pretty good BMB timeline here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/17/boston-bombings-investiga_n_3104608.html

btw there's an actual photo pre-blast, showing both the Suspect and the 8 year old victim, as well as the actual bag bomb (apparently placed right by the RUSSIAN flag -- by Chechens).
