...single deck 21. The casino had a special rule:

Four players or more the casino shuffles the deck after one hand.

Since a single player can be dealt up to 5 cards, meaning a really weird run of cards x 4 players + dealer = 20+ cards dealt ... ummm that's not a "special" rule bro, that just makes sense -- imagine playing a second hand after knowing >40% of the cards already gone, ridic advantage.
2  Poker and Gambling / Hot Air and Ventilation / Re: I lost on: November 19, 2013, 09:22:42 AM
I started with 20 and ran it up then so called 'varience' hit and no matter what every hand lost and i got down to 40 playing in roll.

I started with 40 and ran it up to 45 then so called "variance" hit and OMG HOW MANY SETS CAN THEY HIT ON THE TURN I MEAN REALLY COME ON and I got down to 30 playing in roll.

Gonna switch away from fullring cash and hyperturbo SnGs methinks... 6max cash ftw (?)

3  Poker and Gambling / Poker News / Re: stars is rigged on: November 19, 2013, 09:20:53 AM
you were suppose to ask me how much i lost.

Based on my screen name, do you really expect me to do something because some faceless entity claims that I am "supposed to" do it?

Cant do much when the RNG is crooked.

Rant over.

Live RNG was totally rigged against me all weekend.

I give up on limit holdem now. Can't stand the variance. It's actually worse, at times, than headsup Razz was Back In The Day (when I played daily @ FTP).

I think I'm gonna rebuild on 888 starting at 2NL fullring and keep it to 20 buyins and see what happens... Will be less boring than playing 15% vpip @ live LHE 3/6 (which is really the only way to reduce variance enough where insanity is not a worry).

Yay! Just during 15 minute break, up 1.5 buyins @ 2NL fullring without ever having to bluff or slow-play... 888 "instant play" web version ftw! (buh-bye Party!)

I do not recommend anyone play on stars.  That is all.

"Thank you! The wise words above have persuaded me to do as you recommend!"

7  Poker and Gambling / Poker News / Re: Penny Rush now on FTP on: November 15, 2013, 11:05:49 AM
Same company, different sites, but you can "join" your accounts to be able to transfer moneyz either direction.

But being MANAGED by Stars, so trustworthy (completely un-like UB/AP).

Traffic on FTP is terribad compared to pre-BF though... just a sad warning. FTP used to be a great cash-game site where you could relativelly quickly find 2 or 3 games of stud hi-lo (or RAZZ, obv) or 8-game/10-game -- both at the micros and low limits -- and have a blast against a mix of solids and droolers. I miss the good old days. But now @ FTP there's virtually no action, unless you are playing MTTs or PLO/NL. Sad

8  Poker and Gambling / Hot Air and Ventilation / Re: I lost on: November 15, 2013, 10:39:30 AM
I went fishing last night too!

Made 2 and a quarter profitz in about 3.5 hours @ a fullring $3/6 LHE donktastic table. Gotta love the loose calling standards of consistently-losing Edmonton regs... Musta been the cold and ugly weather got them too depressed to fold every time I guess... Never even had to bluff to win a pot... Plenty of times got a "full" boat (lol #pun)

How do you beat donks?. I would like to know because when im allin ahead i lose. Isnt that the aim of the game Get allin ahead and should get paid off long run. Dont know about you but im broke. Starz haz all me coin.

Above all remember this: Since it's limit, THEY WILL CALL ... but long-term you WANT them to chase bad (even if they have "pot odds" to do so) ... because every bet/raise you make is profitable $ ... Avoid post-flop calling unless you are chasing with pot odds, think "raise or fold!" But at a foundation, avoid costly tilt by simply ACCEPTING that you will often get "rivered", that's the nature of the LIMIT game -- when a 4-flush or 4-straight "gets there" your 2 pair is rarely good, that when someone who has been check-calling now BETS OUT (turn/river) they probably hit the obvious draw (or at least a greasy 2 pair).

... and MOST OF ALL: accept that almost everyone will see a flop, even for a raise (or even a 3BET, at some tables!). So since a PREFLOP raise doesn't get folds (since you can't size it to 1.5x or 2.5x the pot, like in NL, which is pretty much what low-limit live NL fullring requires to get folds, imo!) I have realized it's like printing money to RARELY raise preflop, as long as I am hyper-aggro ON THE FLOP. I of course mix it up preflop if the table is so tight that they don't even 3bet AA/KK/QQ/AK -- then I will raise in late position with suited Aces, suited paint, and high pairs) ... but it is POST-FLOP where you get in the most +EV spots, because by RAISING someone's flop bet instead of just calling -- whether you have second pair or a gutshot+overcard -- you will get tons of folds, you know the type of chasers who think "I have an Ace [or backdoor flush, or even bottom pair no kicker], I will see the Turn for just $3 and hope to get lucky" well THEY ACTUALLY WILL FOLD FOR $6!

And if they don't fold immediately then for sure most will fold on the turn because they figure you musta flopped 2pair yourself... so by seeing the river HU or 3handed, that river Ace or King shows up you can still thin-value-bet, since it's far less likely an opponent mighta potentially hit.

Also, on wet boards I almost always bet my made hand on the turn AND river because very often villain will think I missed the flop's obvious draw so I get paid off for 2 double-bet streets... but on a dry flop and HU on the Turn I often will check my one-pair hand since villain is usually WAY behind (or crushing me and trapping, hoping to get in his raise on a double-bet street!) -- most villains will bet the river either for value or as a bluff (thinking I will fold my "one and done" airball) ... so this way I can just pot-control-call with my one pair on the river (and sometimes even 2pair+, depending on how scary the board is -- remember, don't raise OTR unless ahead of >50% of your villain's betting range WHICH HE WILL ALSO CALL YOUR RAISE).

Basically ANY variant of poker -- but especially live full-ring LIMIT holdem -- is all about knowing what the "average" opponent does in various situations, and ACCEPTING it and exploiting it. At a super-loose-passive live $3/6 LHE game, you can see the flop with 30%-60% of hands (especially suited, I usually play ATC suited, not joking!) because they play so badly post-flop (including being too nitty-passive!) ; but on the FLOP you've gotta be Mr. Extreme; be hyper-aggro with your value hands and strong-equity draws, but ALSO be very willing to check-fold or even BET-fold -- since you're facing 6 or 7 opponents so a flopped 2-pair or set is very likely, and your "2 overcards draw" is likely useless as your high card is likely gonna give someone 2 pair. BUT for the most part if they all check to you in LP your one-pair hand is likely good, keep firing OTF and OTT/OTR until they give you a reason to stop.

But overall the FLOP RAISE is what has made the biggest difference in my game -- I get plenty of Turn "free" cards for my draws, but also they never believe me when I make a straight or flush (or flop a set) because all the usually nitty regs just check-call check-call check-call their AK TPTK (or even their AA overpair! ON SCARY BOARDS!) ... so someone who regularly raises FLOPS stands out even more than a "preflop raise-a-holic". Plus it's more profitable, EV-wise, than raising preflop all the time (because a c-bet is virtually USELESS in live loose fullring LHE games). Once I started limping/calling preflop instead of raising above-average hands, I found I got to RAISE the flop way ahead WAY MORE OFTEN, because someone always seems to bet out a bad made hand -- instead of "check to the raiser, call".

HTH.  Grin

Squidbillies AND AquaTVShowShow have already done their season finales.
(previously known as "Aqua Something You Know Whatever", or of course ATHF -- see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aqua_Teen_Hunger_Force#Alternative_titles )

The Booth at the End will be regarded as a great classic someday, but it's only on Hulu.
It boggles the mind as to why a major or minor network never picked it up:

Xander Berkeley ftw! He made a what-coulda-been-pretty-meh 24 character very memorable, and hey remember Terminator 2? HE WAS IN THAT TOO, as the unlikeable foster dad who gets killed by the T-1000 early on. Yeah, that was HIM. (see also http://www.google.com/search?q=that+guy+who+was+in+that+thing )

Oh yeah, I like Booth at the End, a very good watch.  I hope a season 3 comes eventually.

Also, Booth has aired on FX in England.  In the US you can pretty much only watch it on Hulu, which is just fine IMO.  I've got that show tagged as a favorite, so when the next season starts (if it ever does) then it'll be queued to my watch list.

I have enough points to see a free movie. Might use it this Friday night to see Freebirds, or Captain Philips.

I've heard nothing but good things about this one, if you're into that "kind" of film. Whereas Freebirds was pretty much no marketing hype coming up to its release, that's usually a bad sign (i.e. test audiences were not impressed, thus the studio expects to make most of its money via rentals/DVD sales after the theatrical run, so no point in spending tons of $ on promoting the theatrical release). imo.

https://tonybet.com/betonpoker

live stream of a 6-player poker hand, cards face-up, you can bet who will win preflop or OTF or OTT -- odds are updated after each street is dealt. ~30 seconds to make the bet so it's tough to figure out the math and see if there is ever an edge, but my guess is it is mathematically figured out so that every bet makes Tony $$$. Neat idea I guess.

Community ftmfw. Netflix is fantastic, in the last 4 weeks I've discovered a source for my scifi-darkmystery fix with Fringe and now my absurdist smart comedy addiction with Community.

Yeah, I'm quite a few years behind you all.

USGOV "shutdown" is exciting enough... but what if it doesn't "start back up" soon? Some speculate that will result in a DEFAULT. Ouch:
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-10-07/a-u-s-default-seen-as-catastrophe-dwarfing-lehman-s-fall.html
^ interesting read in the comments, a lot of them point out that this is just fearmongering, and maybe a "default" is quite unlikely, BUT heading in that direction might be a GOOD thing for the long-term sustainability of America (i.e. gonna have to deal with the unsustainable debt addiction, better sooner than later!) ...

Well, just finished the final 2-parter of The Newsroom Season 2 (hooray for Project Free TV!) -- kinda slow for most of it, I was actually expecting to feel not that impressed for a season-ender. But then WOW that final 15 minutes made up for it! Especially felt my jimmies get extremely UNrustled by the way Charlie vocalized his decision about resigning and the reason for his decision -- perfect Sorkin writing , without being ripe for parody*.

*Speaking of which, also just now found this Funny Or Die bringing blind fanatics of the show back down to Earth...

btw I'm pretty sure the FoD guys meant it in good fun -- and I'm QUITE sure they produced it way before the awesome writing of Season 2 (just look at the improved. writing. for women. !but WOW poor Sloan in the final ep!)

A quick reminder: The window for filing a petition is quite brief, staying open only until November 16th.

Given the inherent potential for miscommunication and dispute, it makes sense for players in just about every imaginable scenario to file their petition sooner rather than later

You can begin the filing process here. https://secure.gcginc.com/PKR/Login.aspx

Note: The petition page has struck many as poorly designed. If you have received a control number via email, do not click the "Create a New Petition" button. Instead, enter the information you received the in the relevant fields and click "login."

...What this adds up to is a new thing in human history: with a couple of clicks of a mouse, an agent of the state can target your home phone, or your mobile, or your email, or your passport number, or any of your credit card numbers, or your address, or any of your log-ins to a web service.

Using that "selector", the state can get access to all the content of your communications, via any of those channels; can gather information about anyone you communicate with, can get a full picture of all your internet use, can track your location online and offline. It can, in essence, know everything about you, including thanks to the ability to look at your internet searches what's on your mind.

To get a rough version of this knowledge, a state once had to bug phones manually, break into houses and intercept letters, and deploy teams of trained watchers to follow your whereabouts. Even then it was a rough and approximate process, vulnerable to all sorts of human error and countermeasures. It can now have something much better than that, a historically unprecedented panoply of surveillance, which it can deploy in a matter of seconds...
