Buying a Vehicle Service Contract for your new or used vehicle can be a major decision. With the complexity of today’s vehicles, even a minor repair can be a major expense. Most people cannot afford the high costs of an auto repair nor the time left alone without a vehicle.

extended auto warranty

Just some helpful advice, Im not trying to sound like a azzhole here but I do have to say that anyone that buys a extended warranty on a Brand new Vehicle, I have Beechside Condo for sale on the moon

No.1 You are already getting 5 year 60,000 mile warranty now on most vehicles

No.2 IF YOU GET APPROVED for a used vehicle that cost $20,000, you are 100% approved for a BRAND NEW vehicle, These salesmen no matter what are there to make the most commision they can off you NO MATTER how suckazz they seem

No.3 If your approved you can get the lowest % loan there is PERIOD, If you plan on having payment you are just skrewing youself, They know if your that dumb to buy a used vehicle with 80,000 miles for $20k then they will get 14 to 22% interest from you in turn will make the used vehicle payments cost way more on used than a Brand New vehicle, and witha  Brand new vehicle FROM A MAJOR comapny like Ford, If anything happens you can take your vehicle to any Ford dealers anywhere to get fixed

No.4 A service contract on a used vehicle does not cover everything like one for a Brand New Manufacture Warranty, PLUS there is a DEDUCTABLE with a used vehicle and they try to make them $500 or $1000, If you get used and do a extended service you to make sure that the deductable is $100

No.5 The Manufacture Warranty DOES change ownership, at least from Ford so if you buy a used vehicle that has 40k in miles and warranty was 60k, you good to go for the extra 20k in miles

No.6 you can buy a extended service warranty anytime you want, you DONT have to buy it when you purchase a car

No.7 You get tired at a carlot when they keep you there for 3 or 4 hours of bullchit back and forth, YOU NEED TO WALK if you have to, You CANT say Im tired and fuk it, the bottom line is even if you have to walk from 3 car lots, that 3rd one knows that you wont put up the salesmans bullkrap, Just remember in the end later your going to be saying to yourself that you are happy your paying $400 month for 5 years on a $20,000 brand new car at 3.9% rate

No.8 They trick you also buy the number of years, they will tell you $400 but it will be 7 years, dont fall for that krap, thats a extra 10 grand in there pocket and commision

No.9 NEVER pay sticker on a new vehicle, they can take 10% off NO MATTER WHAT THEY say to you

No.10 On a New Vehicle DONT PUT a down payment, only 1 time did I ever put a down payment and that was only $500, remember they want to sell you a vehicle

Before I went out of business I bought 15 new vehicles over a 20 year period, I suggest if you are not the type of person that knows numbers or % which you only have to be close so you know your not getting ripped or that you cant give these azzhole salesman a ear you need to take someone with you and let them haggle the deal for you, TELL them your purchasing the vehicle for them in your name so the salesman will deal with your friend, ect. otherwise they will ignor anything they say and just focus on you

Once that salesman knows you are believing what he is telling you or even just pretending, he knows he has you by the balls and you are Fuked period

In 2009 my brother called me when he was on a carlot and my friend was over visiting me, he said the salesperson wanted him to put $6,000 down on a $26k Ford Ranger and pay $580 month for 6 years and asked me if that sounded right, I said thats 48k for a 26k truck and a dinkie truck at that, so he asked if my friend would bring me over to help him out, wow lol a SalesLADY dressed for the street swinger her azz

I told her the truck is like 23k hell pay no money down and $450 month 5 years or we walk, she said oh theres no way bla bla bla, I said fuk her well go find you a good deal, my brother at the time was upset with for saying that in front of her, I said the fact is she knows she was fuking you into the ground and she didnt care at all, 2 days later she left him a message and said we can get that for you for the price you wanted, lol, TO LATE

My brother asked me to find him a deal because he hates how the salesman take advantage of him

OK, this is what I found for my Brother, 16 hours of research, 2 hours 30 minutes on the lot, $20 carfax(MUST)

really what would someone normally pay for this vehicle, 2 years old, purchased in 2009, it is a
2007 Ford F-150 32,000 miles, 4 New Tires @ $200 each, only dents was inside the bed, no biggie
everything was in perfect shape, its Automatic, Has Air Conditioning, Cruse Control, Electric Windows, ect. the sticker price
for new at the time for similar was $28,995

GUESS THE PRICE

A friend of mine bought a new vehicle 3 years and was going to buy an 'extended' warranty for another 2 years.   I talked her out of it exactly for the reasons Gabe brought up.

I think it would have cost another 900.00 for the 2 years.

Even that the OP is a spambot, Gabe is mostly full of shoot.  There's a lot of value in purchasing an extended warranty, if you do it right.  In short, these warranties are incredibly marked up.  What may have an original asking price of $2200 can be sold for as little as ~$600 on a mid priced new car.  Just keep saying "No thanks" until the price is low enough to justify buying it.

#1  Some new cars have 5/60, but there are a lot of them that are either 4/48 or 3/36.

#2  If you get approved for a $20K used car, then you're most likely approved for a $20K new car.  Unfortunately, you're talking about 2 entirely different classes of vehicles, and that $20K used car is usually going to have a lot of miles on it.

#3  I read your post here 3 times, and I still don't know what the hell you're trying to say.  The only thing I gathered from it is that the rate on a used car loan is always higher than that of a new car loan.  Knowing that, one needs to consider the interest rate savings on the new car vs. the higher cost of it.  Sometimes a good deal on a year end closeout new car is comparable to buying a similar used car with a higher interest rate.

#4  Whether or not there is a deductible is almost always negotiable at the time of purchasing the extended warranty.  Obviously, the higher the deductible, the lower the purchase price of the warranty.

#5  Agreed

#6  Agreed

#7  If you do your research, you shouldn't have to be at a dealership for more than an hour before having agreed to a deal.  Be prepared, know what you're talking about, and know what a good deal is.  If you get jerked around for more than 30 minutes, walk out.  If you don't get the price you want, walk out.  If they can do better, they'll beg you to come back.

#8  People get too wrapped up with the monthly payment.  The salesmen will just drag your term out longer to lower the payment; you're still paying the whole amount.  Don't start talking about monthly payments until you finalize the actual purchase price of the vehicle.  Also, NEVER mention a trade-in until AFTER you agree on the purchase price of the vehicle you're intending to purchase.  Purchase price ---> Trade-in --->  Monthly payment

#9  Some cars will sell at sticker price (or above), and some will sell at as much as 30% off sticker price.  The last new car I bought was 27% off sticker.

#10  Put as much down payment as you can afford to.  If you're getting an incredibly low interest rate, I can see the argument for not putting anything down, but if you can put a bulk of cash down, it's usually a good idea to do so.  Also, if you're getting one of those 0% for 60 (or 36 or 48) months, then you're an idiot because you gave up way too many incentives to get that no interest rate.  You're better off taking a good bank rate as financing with all the rebates/incentives, than to take the 0%...providing you have good credit.

Thats what I say now, I wish I had did that when I was in business, I wasted so much money, eating expessive meals and spending like there was no tomorrow, If I did that and watched my money I probably would have had at least 1/2 mil savedn instead of nothing when I went out of business, We all live and learn
