Thinking of playing at a New Site - I pimp for the fourum ITT

Assuming the U.S. players are going to try and get their poker fix at another site, you obviously need to have rakeback sorted out before you sign up. RaketheRake has the standard Rakeback available at all sites, and if you join RaketheRake through us, we get an additional 4%. If you are not a member of RaketheRake, just click on the banner in the thread linked below, and click on select New User Sign Up in the Members Login box in the top left. Thanks for your consideration.

I would also say, I'm not suggesting playing poker at another site is necessarily a good idea for U.S. citizens. I don't know what's coming next, or whether other sites will be seized in the same way. Anyone with comments or thoughts on that are welcome to reply here.

I'm sure there is some DOJ agent reading this thread and making notes in his "little black book".
Spoiler
:
Fletch_smf encourages US players to play at the sites we haven't gotten to shut down yet - add to list of people to indict!

A good question would be who among the refugees' is a US citizen? And next would be what sites actually offer freerolls? I for one would not want to deposit on a site just to lose my money. I would rather start from zero and work it up till I find out I can't withdraw it than to lose a deposit.

I would think almost every poker site operating offers freerolls.

For those interested in playing at a new site, here are some of the sites available, and the freerolls they offer, enjoy.
Carbon Poker
-
http://www.carbonpoker.com/tournaments/freeroll-tournaments.html
-5x $200 freerolls are run every day for absolutely any member
-new depositing players are awarded 14 days entry to the $500 Depositor freeroll
Any for all you smiley lovers, check this out:
http://www.carbonpoker.com/features/smilies.html
Cake Poker
-
http://cakepoker.com/en/Tournaments/aboutTournaments/Freerolls.aspx
-new depositor $500 freeroll playing Saturday's at 2 PM ET
-daily freeroll satellites to the weekly $1000 freeroll held on Saturdays
RPM Poker
-
http://www.rpmpoker.com/tournaments/freerolls/
-$50 freerolls are run every four hours for all players
-RPM Poker gives you the chance to start a solid bankroll by playing in our new player freerolls. The entry coupon is issued automatically upon sign-up (not sure if they consider sign-up as account creation or deposit)
I have not personally played at any of these sites, these are just sites I know that are CURRENTLY open to US players. If anyone else has another site they know of, post it and I'll update this post with that information. Like Fletch said, if you DO sign-up at a new site, make sure you sign-up through our affiliate rakeback provider so that we can generate money to provide the members with forum freerolls.
Good luck!

I don't know if trying to start playing on a site with the sole intent of freerolling a bankroll would be good for the forum...
I mean if rake from a freeroll counts in the negative for an individual players rakeback how would it affect the whole affiliate return?
This has been my main concern as far as signing up for another site to play on.
I don't feel like bringing down the overall stability of any income this forum actually has.
I have always wanted what's best for the whole as opposed to the individual.
Can't say I'm much for team play but I would prefer not being a hindering factor to others enjoyment.

This really isn't an issue for a couple of reasons, not the least of which is that Full Tilt is one of the few rooms that negatively affect your Rakeback in this way. Full Tilt hit your rakeback when you use any sort of bonus at their site. Doyles Room and RPM do not.

would be my guess that the DOJ is going to eventually roll over any site that isn't owned by the big casino operators in the US. Can't afford to have any more money tied up. They win, I'm out of it till things sort themselves out.

Does anyone here actually play on any of the sites advertised on this site? And looked at the Prodigy Poker link... what does it mean by filling out the form with "Latin letters"?

No, I don't play at any of those sites. I was just posting them so those of you who required online poker as a source of income could see some of the more popular sites that are still allowing US players. I do have some buddies from another poker forum who played at Carbon very heavily, and they liked it very much. One of the big selling points for Carbon is that it has more than just the usual options. For example, you can rabbit-hunt, deal it twice, and expose one card on that site, in attempt to mess with your opponent(s).

Six, JB, patches and I play at Prodigy on occasion. It just means fill it out in English.

Raketherake.com is a fine site. I use them to get rakeback for a site I play. I can't remember which one; I've played so many.
Of the remaining sites that accept US players, I recommend RPM Poker or Lock Poker (Merge) and Minted Poker (Everleaf). RPM & Lock Poker offer 35% rakeback, have decent software, and enough traffic to ensure they probably won't vanish into the night with your money. They also both have many pros representing their sites. Minted Poker isn't as safe, IMO, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give them a try. They offer 40% rakeback, and have good software (I like it, anyway). Traffic is low, but that could change with the Big 3 no longer serving US players.
I also recommend Bodog, but they don't offer rakeback. They have some kind of VIP deal. I've never been a fan of those, because I don't play enough. If you play a lot it might be worth your while to check out.
