Weeeeeeeee, I finally got my Poker Tracker 3 Hud running, I won it about six months ago at Poker Nations.  Grin

Honestly it has been nothing but a headache trying to figure out how to use it. Almost everyone I know who play poker for a living are using Holdem Manager, they say it is much better and easier to use.

Is anyone else using PT3? I know Sublime won one at Poker Nations as well.

Anyhow, I am hoping that with all their updates and upgrades that they will surpass
Holdem Manager in quality and user friendliness, and that I will be the one with the superior product.

I am also hoping I can figure out how to use all the features, as I still have a long ways to go lol.

I also won one through PN, and have had all kinds of issues with it.  I got it working after several days of messing with it, only to end up with PostgreSQL issues about a week into using it.  I have yet to even bother loading it onto this computer, but hopefully I'll have more success.  I know Subby had the same PostgreSQL probs and had to go through tech support for a while to get it right as well.

I'm a PT3 user. From what I understand it's better for Tournies, and Hold Em Manager is better for cash. Which is a shame, because I play cash.

Congrats on getting it working. Let me know if you have any questions. Oh, and the PT3 Forum is pretty good.

EDIT: I had no trouble installing it on several computers. But then I am R2D2.

Definitely should change your custom title from "white meat" to "R2D2" IMO

I dunno, all these guys I know play tournaments and you couldn't pay them to use
PT3.

I found with the PT3 forums, I spent so much time trying to find what I needed, I would get frustrated, end up with a headache, and it would end up on the back burner.

I found the 2+2 forum more helpful lol.

Do you find if helps you when using it?  I don't have one -- but can see how it would help in marginal hands, and postion bets.

I have not used it enough to tell you, I just tested it with a 45 man turbo, and you move tables so much in those it doesn't make much difference. I think it will really help with mtts, once I figure out how to set it up right.

It's okay as a tool as it gives you the stats of players. During the games it also shows the % for aggression rate pre and post flop and how much pots they are involved in which also can be very useful as it will give you an idea of who the tight players and loose players are and an idea of how to use that to your own personal advantage.

I had major issues with the Postgres for ever, they had like 4 guys try to do it before it finally worked. It was such a pain in the ass. But in the end it worked so I couldn't complain much.

As for the use of PT3, I use it sometimes. But I also like playing without it, as I feel it makes me play too robotic at times and I can become predictable.

So is it worth it? I guess it could be if you are a stat based person but I don't think it gives you that much more of an edge over any decent regular player.

What type of games do you play the most?

As of late .25/.50 or .50/$1 Limit Hold'em cash but I play pretty much anything. NLHE tourney's more often then not and HU games now and then. I also play Omaha, O8 and HORSE quite a bit, more in tourney format then cash game.

I would think it would be very helpful in the cash games, but I think you really have to get a lot of hands on someone for it to do anything for you

Good point, I've been playing a lot of rush lately so it may actually have a benefit. Maybe since I am playing more cash games I will try and use it more. Couldn't hurt I guess.

I switched to HEM... the HUD is much better. PT3 is good though and I think its an invaluable tool for online games.

Does it even work in Rush poker?  I know it doesn't when I play.  You probably get the information for the players and it comes up once you move to a regular cash game.

My stats are all screwed up atm.  I'm missing sessions etc. even though they have been processed and are in the hand histories.  This happened several months ago too and I got it sorted out after numerous email with their support but of course I can't remember how it was fixed and will have to go through the process once again.

I find it very useful in both cash games and tournaments.  In tournaments for the reasons Sublime mentioned and in cash games it comes in very hand for knowing the players that Steal a lot of blinds so I can 3bet them from the blinds.  Knowing the players that are profitable helps too because they are usually the better and trickier players and I can adjust accordingly.  There is a lot more information that I use but I don't feel like writing a book right now lol.

has anyone found that it helps them when they play live??  not using it of course, but maybe helps getting into the profiling mindset?

It does work in rush now....

And I dont see how HEM or PT3 would help you live. You should be in the profiling mindset with or without the software.

Kash they did upgrade it for Rush tournaments, you just need to go to
their website and upgrade to the newer version.

Its good to know that this thing is working for you btw, I should be asking you how to set mine up to get the stats I want.

I think I did something wrong when I set up my groups, as when I left click on the table stats, I do not get any pop-ups for extended stat info.

Thanks for the info.  Maybe when I do the update my stats will get fixed too.

As for popup groups etc.  you are talking to the wrong guy as I don't have any 'groups' and have the very basic setup which works for me.

I like to kiss.  Keep it simple stupid.

Also, Once installed, go File -> Setup Wizard. Go through the four steps of the setup wizard. This will import any existing hand histories in your poker sites hand history folders. Once these old hands are cleaned up, you should be able to begin the auto import and launch the HUD.

I just used the default groups that came with the install, and edited them for my own use.

Configure>Configure Hud and under the Group Tab it will show what groups you have. If you only have 1, create another group, and under the Show: drop down box, choose Popup use only. Then you can add the stats you want to come up and you should be good to go.

These can be edited differently for Cash games and Tourny play.
