Got bitca-slapped back last week, for 297$ [bought in for 300$, folded crap in the blinds]
KcKd OTB, utg 13$ all-in, 1 more caller, I raise to 30, called, HU now.
[is 30 still too small?]
flop: Jc 8c 2c
checked to me, I bet 30, he raises to 90, I call.
[do I consider a shove or a check behind instead ?]
turn: 4c
40$ to me, I call.
[gawd I suk LOL. a shove here mighta gotten a fold, or @ least me w/ a 75/25, the 40 bet looked weak...]
river: 2h
shoved to me, I call, damn near pot-commited, villain shows JJ for the boat, my flush dies horribly.
Back to the drawing board. Altho I ended up +15 on video poker vs. my bus fare.
not sure whether the flop or turn was the worst of the 2 plays. help!

Raise your premiums to the exact amount that will (a) get solid/tricky players to fold, and (b) get donkey/POWs to call. At some tables you could raise it to triple-the-pot and still get 2 extra callers (while the nits will fold their low/medium pairs since they don't figure it's profitable to set-mine).
Ideally you look "scared" with an apparent 99/TT/JJ and someone with AQ or even KQ will decide to re-shove over the top thinking you'll fold out of fear of AA.
At a nitty table, I still think 30 is way too small -- the caller in the middle will not fold a pair for set-mining, and your flop SPR is small enough that you're committed to any flop. So raising to like 70 or more is optimal if you're unsure about the table, again you might even get that guy in the middle calling for *90* (if so, go to ValueTown, he might even fold the flop after calling you!)
PS: I ignored results until posting the above -- {spoiler} tag next time, might I suggest? Cuz the fact that he flopped a set isn't gonna change whether or not your preflop action was iffy. (If he would be willing to call for 80-90 preflop then you WANT a passive opponent like that at your cashgame table! 80% of the time he misses the flop, and yet might still feel committed to calling "just in case you have AK")

Don't give results as it will colour the advice given.
Pre, the raise to $30 is too small. The pot is $23 + blinds so a pot size bet would be about $55 and I'm making it closer to that, probably over if the table is as loose passive as a reg live table and depending on stack size of your opponent.
On the flop the pot is about $75, so the $30 is on the small side. If you're considering folding to a check raise, then checking behind is fine. And if you don't think any worse is calling then checking behind is fine. It's a scary board so it's hard for your opponent to call with a worse hand.
On the turn the pot is $255 and he bets $40 into it, so that is very, very weak. But the reason we called the check raise is to get it in if we hit our King or our flush, so shoving here is the right play. Or if you're not comfortable shoving here, then we should be folding to the check raise.

sry, will use poiler next time

so I would still go pot v. 1 likely opponent and blinds? Villain's stack has me covered.
Yes, Mt. Airy has a loose-passive feel to it.
On the flop the pot is about $75, so the $30 is on the small side. If you're considering folding to a check raise, then checking behind is fine. And if you don't think any worse is calling then checking behind is fine. It's a scary board so it's hard for your opponent to call with a worse hand.
OK, 1 mistake cleared up, I considered checking behind.
The 30 I did as a probe bet... I tend to do that a bit too much OTF, esp. IP.

I shoulda been comfy shoving here. Was a total brain fart.
Calling my shove [140 into 435] is gonna happen lots here w/ trip J's[typical 1/2 in PA, even v. 4 clubs]...
I don't see him having any Ac becuz of the PF call.
thx 4 the help, guyz, I really thrashed this one LOL.
