sixandfourum Rules and Etiquette
The rules are pretty simple, straightforward, and pretty much common sense. The following are mandatory and violation can get you banned or suspended:
This isn't a staking or gambling site. We do not endorse nor guarantee any sort of gambling actions between members. However, we do provide a place to discuss, plan, and arrange stakes, BAPs, and the like as a service to members in accordance with all applicable laws. In order to partake in such activities, you are to obtain permission through the proper staff member (currently fletch_smf) and agree to act in accordance to law and within our rules and regulations.
Don't post pornographic material. We can find better porn elsewhere anyway. No one wants to open up their favorite poker forum ten minutes before lunch at work and run into a 800 x 600 pic of nuns double teaming an orangutan right when the boss walks by.
Do not beg here for money. Go to the nosebleed tables like everyone else who wants money... they've got more than us to give anyway. Don't spam the forum. We don't need Viagra samples, free credit checks, or the latest WoW weapon. When we do, we'll go find them ourselves. If you're a member in good standing and have the consent of an administrator, you may put up links in your signature to promotions that do not conflict with the fourum's interests. Promotional links put up without administrative consent is grounds for banning or account deletion, and new members will be screened daily.
Profanity is also discouraged. We're not gonna play slang Gestapo and ban everyone who says "damn", but if someone persists in language that is offensive in nature, they will be put on "vacation".
Don?t abuse, flame, or slander. We're here for common interests and goals in poker, none of which involve getting in fights. If you disagree with someone, explain why. I love a good debate, which isn't anything at all like a fight.
______________
While not following these guidelines below may not get you put on vacation from the site, they are just plain etiquette and if you choose to ignore them, you'll just piss everyone off and everyone will hate and ignore you. So use your own judgement.
Post threads in the appropriate section, and don't multi-post. Pick the appropriate section and post it once. Use your head and figure out where to put it. We have mods who can move stuff that's put in the wrong place, but people will be a lot more receptive to your input if you're making an effort to talk to the right crowd, not just shouting at whoever stumbles on the thread.
If you want advice on a hand post the HH (hand history) at least, and ideally post it in a converted format. We have converter links on site in the Hand Conversion and Poker Tools section.
Try to make your posts easily readable. We're not Grammar Nazis, but spacing and somewhat readable spelling will make your posts a lot more appealing to all. If it's hard to read, most people won't.
DON'T POST IN ALL CAPS. IT'S EXTREMELY ANNOYING. NO ONE THINKS ANYTHING YOU SAY IS MORE MEANINGFUL BECAUSE IT'S CAPITALIZED, THEY JUST THINK THE AUTHOR IS A MORON.
sixandfourum Censorship Policy
It is clear to those of you who know me well what my stance is on censorship. But I'll make it abundantly clear to all.
This site will not censor any content for any reason other than it is illegal or patently offensive. Your posts will be judged by all on their own merits, not personal bias. As long as you follow the rules and don't post with the intent to be offensive, you should never see a word deleted. Even mods can make mistakes, but those with the job have gotten it because I can count on them to make sound decisions as they are needed. In the unlikely event they do inappropriately censor you, I'll be happy to address the issue as long as respect their on-the-spot decisions in the meantime and handle it amicably and appropriately.
