Those of you in the know know we haven't made a ton of money on this site as yet, not that we particularly expected to at this point.  But While it isn't piling up, it is in fact slowly gaining.  Free Sports Bet, one of our main affiliates, has currently earned a total of $13.22 in bonus funds.  And as of this year, the referral bonuses are doubling, so we can expect $3-4 a month at our current rate.

Now there is a catch;  We can't simply withdraw those funds.  We must first place sports bets out of our bonus account, and the winnings we get will be transferred into our real money account.  So we only get what we win by betting with the money.

This is part of the reason (although by no means the only reason) I had an NFL panel this year.  It was in part a scouting job for persons capable of placing these bets for the site.  In addition, Ribby I have known for some time to be rather successful at sports betting.  So as a result, I now have a clearer mind of who to enlist in converting these funds.  

When our bonus account hits $20.00, I will be asking ribbybruno, gjecat, Rossman01, and wachinpntdry all to help convert the bonus money.  I'll have each of them place $5 in bets, using simple BR management rules, and whatever we win, we have as actual funds. And at $20 bonus accrual increments, I will repeat the process 2 more times, after which we will review the betting performance and make adjustments as necessary. We won't be able to withdraw until $200 in real money, unfortunately, but with slow growth in referrals, that will come soon enough, and at that point, we will be able to pay off some previous benefactors and celebrate with a series of freerolls-- on the site's dime.

Just wanted to let you all know we're actually getting somewhere.

Okay, so there's a change in the plan.  I was loking over the site, and among the things that give you a bonus payout are your first forum post, and your first bet of the day.  You get a $.10 bonus for your first bet.  As such, it's kinda silly to wait till we hit $20 and have a betting spree.  It would be better to have a routine pattern of bets spread out so that we collect the bonus every day.  So if you guys I mentioned before can manage it, I'd like to have a blab session on Skype Monday night so we can hash out a plan; otherwise I can just start a thread with whatever I come up with and we can tweak it as we go.  In the meantime, I bet 2 cents on the Steelers so we could get the 10 cent bonus today.

I have some bonus $ and real $ on the Steelers on FBS. Should be a fun day!

So here's the gig.  I'm basically just gonna start a spreadsheet to track everyone, and basically give you 4 previously named free reign to offer bets when and where you want. In addition, if there's anyone else who would like to give it a go, I'll take a dollar's worth of bets from you as a trial of sorts as well, and if you do well at it we'll keep you on. If no one has a bet placed on a day, I'll do the minimum $.02 bet to get the dime bonus for the day.

I stated before that I planned to giving the original 4 several $5 trials.  But as we're going to do this on a rolling basis now to maximize bonuses, I figure we'll just plan on reviewing each of them when they've placed $5 worth.  I'll put up a regular update of all the bets and post the updated spreadsheet so we can all see what's going on, how much we have to roll over to real money, etc.

Keep in mind that depending on how fast you guys place bets, we may at some point run out of bonus account money as the proceeds go to real cash.  If that's the case, we'll wait until we've built up a buck or 2.  We will not touch the real money account for betting purposes whatsoever;  It will only be used when we can withdraw for the benefit of the Fourum.

With that in mind, here's some BR management rules I've come up with to keep the bets sensible and balanced.

1.  Bets will be a minimum of $.10 (to get decent benefit of fractional odds) and a maximum of $.30 (to keep a balanced slate and not to "put our eggs in one basket").

2.  no more than one fourth of any persons bets may be parlays, and parlay bets max out at $.20.

3.  No more than 2 bets a day per person.  You are not obligated to place any at all if you so choose, and obviously you shouldn't bet unless you are comfortable with the wager.  We're in no hurry.

4.  Ideally, give me 24 hours notice if you want a bet placed.  I'll place them with shorter notice if I am informed of them in time, but can't guarantee any sooner than that.  You can post your bets here or send them to me through Skype.


Now I by no means proclaim to be an expert on sports betting or betting strategies.  So if you have any ideas on additional rules or adjusting these rules, Please by all means say so.  And with that said, doors are open and you guys can send me bets to place at your leisure.

No prob at all, I'm glad to know that during the slow season there's at least one guy who can find games to pick.  I dunno if anyone else is gonna give us much hoops or hockey action, so I'm relieved someone's good for it.  You may be on your own for a while.


UPDATE:  El crappo.  Just tried to book #1, but we can't use bonus funds to bet on better than +150 odds (i.e. paying 1.5:1 or better.)  So I can't book #1.  #5 I'll put in, after that you got one more.  I guess parlays are out, unless they're crap payouts.

 

do we need to register there to see the wagers available ?  ... if so, is there a click-through link on sixandfourum to register at the site (freesportsbet.com ?) we're betting at  ?

and you (six) said we cant make any bets that pay 1.5 to 1 or better ? (not sure where that info is when looking at a potential wager, maybe it'll be plain to see once I get to the site ?)


I've never bet on sports other than w/ friends, straight up win/lose, even money kinda thing,..... so I'm little bit out of sorts with this stuff....

unfortunately (the real kind of)football season is over and all I see there is hockey, basketball, and stuff from azerbaijan and the like (I'm assuming all that foreign stuff is soccer).... anyhoo, I know little to nothing about basketball in terms of making picks, and absolutely nothing about hockey or soccer, so I'll leave any sixandfourum wagering up to the rest of you,

nah...... rugby is just soccer with hands allowed and a diff shaped ball....REAL FOOTBALL is nothing like rugby





 need pads when there's real hits and tackling.... they wear all kinds of hi-tech pads, helmets, flak jacket type stuff and still people get concussions, broken bones, occasional paralysis, and even death is a possibility.... now that's a sport !
